the week that was and is - may 13th, 2009
So where did the snow come from, and are we finally done with the white stuff....
- With our 'newest' cupcake shop opening last week, Sharon at Only Here for the Food stopped in to sample and snap some pictures..
- I read a fair amount about Eat Local First this week; A brilliant idea and I hope other retailers jump on the wagon. An informed consumer is always a good thing.
- This is crazy - a spice embedded book. Like scratch and sniff for adults.
- A baby that needs to eat more than me. Phew - 20,000 calories a week!
- Shrink your fridge to be better citizen and a healthier person.
- Ever wonder what you might eat if you were hospitalized in another country. Have a gander and see what goodies are out there.
What says a young baker man like 50lb bags of flour. Yes, I use that much and more. Costco sized flour FTW!
And finally some non-food topics;
- The geek in me absolutely loves Geek Advancement! It makes me smile so big.
- About time the Novitec boys worked on something this sexy.
- Mr. Mayer posted a picture on twitter of his new guitar prototype...I'm already saving.

Aw! I love the giant bag of flour! Nice picture! Now my Mom was able to put a face to the name. She's been thinking I'm crazy for photo documenting all my meals while I've been here. :)
Will have to check out Coney Island Candy. I had no idea it was there, guess someone needs to wake up and taste some sugar!!!
where did you get that big bag of flour? I could use that up no problem...
I understand Sarah - I still get the odd vibe at times from friends who think I'm a little loony for snapping pictures of my food. I've been meaning to hit up Coney Island, more for recon than anything else.
A big bag of flour indeed Anon - and what would you be using a massive bag of flour for?
Let's go to Coney Island when I get back!!!!
Just thought I'd let you know that mint and oregano are spreading herbs. We usually plant them in individual pots because they will take over. So, your basil might not like that. But you might be ok if you keep on top of it and work on removing it as you go.
And, I'm embarrassed to ask but what does FTW stand for? I'm so not up to what's in :)
Cute pic ;)
Oh dear me. Thanks for the heads up Maki. I'm not sure what to expect and look forward to learning new things; I think I'm in over my head already! FTW = for the win. It's sort like a jubliant saying, something you say at the end up something good. Thanks, I didn't know if I should throw a picture up or not.
gotcha ;)
Haha, look at you and your giant bag of flour pride! Cute picture :-)
Good thing I picked it up last week; the BBA Challenge is going to be using a major portion of it. ^--^
i would use the flour for bread - i've been making lots lately. i also make a lot of pie crusts and pizza dough balls. where did you get that flour?
Pie crust and Pizza. Sounds great to me. I picked up that massive bag of AP Flour at Costco..for a staggering 12 dollars if my memory serves me correctly. A definite deal.
