art walk - edmonton, ab

I decided to bike down and check out Art Walk 2009 on Whyte Avenue. An elaborate 3 day sidewalk sale which culminates with the closing of Whyte on Sunday with many vendors taking to the street.

For those who aren't aware, Whyte is one of Edmonton's prime entertainment districts with more bars and pubs than you can shake a fist at. It's also a main cruise drag for motorcycles, cars, and everything in between. Closing the street down on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, is definitely a site to be seen.

There was plenty of choices to fulfill your shopping desires. From jewelry, clothes, shoes, books, music, to loads of original paintings and prints.

Buskers, with various talents, and musicians were out in full force.

Street food was limited from what I saw to the standard mini donuts stand, so it was no surprise to see long lineups at;
Edmonton's hot dog institution Fat Franks

and Scoops.

Maybe all those crazy food treats are waiting at Capital Ex, which opens this Friday. Deep fried jellybeans anyone?

There seemed to be a solid turnout and really you couldn't ask for better Edmonton weather. Anyone score a sweet deal?
